like the only reason we have it is because old british yt men wanted the poor yt kids to obediently work and we just are like yeah let's keep that
Academia, at any stage, is one of the major pillars of yt imperialism and this is a hill I will die on. And I love that covid exposed the school system for what it is– absolute hot fucking garbage.
When I was in high school our English and history teachers taught a combined lesson on how our current education system was basically a direct result of the industrial revolution, and they drew direct parallels to industry lines, cafeterias, factory assembly, and classroom setup, and they even showed us alternative educational methods that allowed for more natural, organic human interaction, and focused less on grades, and more on understanding.
Obviously we were all confused, asking "Well if the current education system was just a pipeline system to the factories and has been outdated for centuries, and there are better alternatives, then why are still being taught this way???"
They kind of just shrugged their shoulders like "I dunno lol"
And then we never spoke about it again o_O
